What is recourse factoring?
Factoring is selling your accounts receivable invoices to a factoring company at a discount in exchange for immediate cash. Recourse factoring is the most common type of receivables factoring as it is more cost effective than Non-Recourse. It provides the lowest factoring cost to you because you retain the risk if your customer doesn't pay.
Recourse factoring is ideal when you have a customer with good credit, but is slow to pay (30 to 60 days or more).
Fees for recourse factoring are lower than non-recourse factoring because recourse factoring is low risk to the factoring company. That's because the risk associated with payment remains with you, the seller. If, due to unforeseen complications, your customer doesn't pay within 90 days, you become responsible for full repayment of the invoice amount.
